All Paula’s Choice products are thoroughly researched and well documented. You’ll find the full ingredient list on each product page—please be sure to review it to ensure the product is suitable for your skin.
If you experience sensitization such as redness, flaking, tenderness, or dryness, here are some helpful steps:
1. This may not be an allergic reaction.
Sometimes, the skin simply needs time to adjust to formulas containing stronger actives (e.g., BHA, AHA, retinol, vitamin C). Introducing these products slowly—about 1–2 times a week—can help your skin acclimate. A mild, short-lived tingling sensation during the first few uses can also be normal as your skin adapts.
2. You may be using products that aren’t the best match for your skin.
If you’re unsure which products suit your concerns, feel free to chat with one of our team members via Live Chat on PaulasChoice.sg (bottom left corner). We’re happy to guide you before you make a purchase.
3. If a reaction is suspected, isolate and reduce usage.
It’s important to narrow down which product(s) may be contributing to the reaction. Reduce frequency of use and introduce products one at a time—this helps identify whether the issue is with a single product or a combined application.
4. Patch test stronger treatments.
For potent formulas (e.g., our CLINICAL 1% Retinol Treatment, 1% Retinol Booster, Pro-Retinaldehyde Treatment, CLINICAL 20% Niacinamide Treatment), we recommend patch-testing on a small area of the jawline before full use. Start by applying 2–3 times a week at night before moisturizer, then increase gradually as tolerated.
5. If sensitization persists, discontinue use and reach out.
Please take clear photos of the reaction and stop using the affected product(s). If you need to request a return or exchange due to an allergic reaction, kindly complete our Returns Form and include the batch code, required medical documentation, and photos. Our team will review your submission and work with you to find a suitable resolution.
